2022 Pommard, Les Poutures, 1er Cru, Domaine François Buffet, Burgundy

From a .27 ha holding.

Firm reduction renders the nose unreadable. The delicious and energetic medium-bodied flavours are caressing, even succulent, offering a lovely texture and richness. All this is wrapped in a youthfully austere but not really rustic finish that is noticeably more complex. It's good stuff and worth considering.

Drink 2032

Medium deep purple, with a delicious nose lifted by the whole bunches. Plenty of energy on the palate, still predominantly raspberry, with a fine boned texture and no aggressive tannins. Holds together very well. Fine long finish.

Drink 2029 - 2036

Poutures is up the slope from the Clos Micot. In contrast to this latter wine, Poutures is silky and fine. It does not lack substance, but there is an enchanting floral note and a ripe, plummy fruit on the initial attack. There is enough tannin and body to drive the wine to a lingering finish, but nothing is astringent here. The grapes are from a 0.27-hectare parcel; one-third are fermented as whole clusters, and the wine is ageing in a cask 20% new). This wine was among my favourites in the cellar.
