2022 Bonnes Mares, Grand Cru, Domaine Bart, Burgundy

From a 1 ha holding that is comprised of two large parcels that sit just above those of Domaine Comte de Vogüé.

An attractively layered and fresh nose merges aromas of red and dark berries with those of earth, leather and a whiff of spice, all of which is trimmed in enough wood to notice. There is excellent richness to the large-scaled flavours that possess solid mid-palate density before terminating in a youthfully austere and sneaky long finish that is very firmly structured. This presently lacks a bit of verve, but I suspect that it will return to form once its racked and my predicted range offers the benefit of the doubt.

Drink 2034

A deep bright dark purple, grand cru colour! A gorgeous rich deep fruit, then vanilla from the oak, and a clear white pepper from the stems. This clearly needs more elevage which it will receive. The fruit is much more prominent than the oak at the finish. Ripe fruit but dark raspberry rather than mulberry. Oxygen will tighten this up, paradoxically.
