Description

En Boucheran sits between the Premiers Crus of Montmains and Vaillons. A band of deep clay runs through it, which suits warm and dry vintages; this is once again a big success. There is a certain generosity and spicy intensity, but the finish is intensely saline and chalky.

Very pale colour and hardly any nose. Quite lean but then juicy. White fruit on the palate, but not quite singing at the moment. Just a stage, I suspect, as the length is there, and the finish fleshes out.

The 2022 Chablis Boucheran is matured in used barrels for a year. It has a fragrant bouquet of yellow fruit mixed with light Mirabelle scents. The palate is well-balanced with fine acidity, quite "gentle" in the mouth, with just a touch of orange rind towards the finish. Fine.
