Description

The 2022 Chablis, Fourchaume, Héritage, 1er Cru, by Le Domaine d’Henri, comes from vines planted in 1937 in L’Ardillier, in the northern part of L’Homme Mort. It is aged 50% in barrel, with the rest in stoneware jars and tank. It has the feel of a Grand Cru: statuesque, authoritative, and rigorous—if a little monolithic for now.

From amphora, fallen clear. Reductive on the nose, yet generous and juicy on the palate with an appealing crisp finish, along with the glycerol of the vintage. From foudre 2018 Stockinger), which still has a bit of oak to show, on the nose. Some bitterness behind. From demi muid Schnecken Leitner 2017): clear colour, more vinous, quite a yeasty nose as well, just a touch of oak, but a very good acid balance and length.
