Description

Co-owner Aline Baly confirmed that there was no botrytis until the rain came at the end of September. Further drizzle in early October set and accelerated the botrytis. The first picking at the end of September was of dried, sweet grapes, but the quality and health of the botrytised grapes in mid-October (all harvested by 28th October) meant that no sorting in the vineyard was necessary.

The wine is astonishingly rich, both intense and precise. Notes of quince, fig, and Coutet’s signature fresh ginger complete the finish.

Subtle and citrusy on the nose with a bitter-orange edge. Rich and full on the palate, the botrytis is evident on the finish, a bitter note providing persistence. Reserved but should develop further.
