Description
2022 Corullón already feels gorgeous from the nose. Aromas of fresh red and black fruit mingle with gloriously fragrant and lifted notes of garden thyme, wild mint and sage. The palate is just so elegant, with a lovely fruit weight yet a focused line of slate. The cranberry fruit feels somehow concentrated yet delicate simultaneously with a blueberry lift, vibrant purity, and fresh red apple. Carefully crafted, grainy tannins resolve seamlessly on the slightly savoury yet still juicy finish. This really is a delicious Corullón.

Tank sample. Sourced across the Palacios vineyards in Corullón.
Fragrant, inviting nose with violets and red-berry fruit. Restrained spice notes, light and fine tannins, hint of aniseed to finish, all wrapped up with bright, freshening acidity. Approachable now.
Drink 2024 - 2028
The entry wine to the Corullón range. Sourced from some 20 vineyards across Corullón, it’s a field blend of Mencía with red and white grapes. Lightly floral, it starts with bright cherries and opens to an earthy, savoury, textured mid-palate, with the keynote fine lift of acidity, a characteristic of all these wines. Ricardo Pérez is moving to less oak intervention, with no new oak barrels, and larger fermentation vats. Vi de Villa.
Drink 2023 - 2029
The bottled village red 2022 Corullón was produced with grapes from around 90 different plots and had a short élevage of eight months in barrel. It is 93% Mencía, 4% Jerez Palomino), 2.5% Alicante Bouschet and 0.5% Gran Negro bottled at 13.5% alcohol. It's floral and aromatic, but compared with the more-austere 2023, it comes through as more generous, riper and a little gentler, with more fruit but with elegance and freshness that nobody expected during the torrid summer and harvest. It keeps the freshness and poise, with fine-grained tannins. 25,392 bottles and some smaller and larger formats produced. It was bottled in August and November 2023, as they had to stop for the harvest.
