Here, too, there is just enough wood to notice lurking in the background of the earthy and fresh aromas of red currant and forest floor. The racy, delicious, and beautifully delineated medium-weight flavours exude a subtle minerality on the youthfully austere, balanced, lingering finish. This, too, could use better depth, but the potential is present for that to occur. It's worth considering.

Drink from 2029 onward

The 2022 Vougeot Le Clos de Prieuré, a monopole of Vougeraie, has a perfumed, quite floral bouquet that is rather Chambolle-like in style: mulberry, raspberry, and a light fish scale scent. The palate is medium-bodied with a lively entry. I like the tannin structure here; the keen line of acidity lends bite to the finish. It's worth seeking out.

Drink 2025 - 2038

A pretty mid red, with a remarkably expressive bouquet, very floral, feels like whole bunches but not, then really kicks on, both ripe and racy at the same time, more nuanced across the middle, the Clos de Prieuré has put in a very positive performance this year.
