Description

David’s section of this vineyard lies on hard Jurassic limestone, whereas his neighbours are on marl. The chalky soil gives a wine with a lifted, floral perfume. This is a Santenay of elegance and finesse, a wine that dances across the palate with grace.

The 2022 Santenay Les Hâtes returns after being frosted last year. It has a slightly more floral bouquet than the Dalle Nacrées, with mulberry, strawberry and white flower aromas and a hint of tobacco in the background. The medium-bodied palate has a fresh entry, offering brisk red fruit with an underlying stoniness that comes through on the vibrant and sapid finish. Excellent.
