The soil here is very chalky and stony and the vines date back to the 1960s. This is a characterful and sapid wine. The nose offers a lovely ball of bright summer fruits, while the palate is juicy and saline, with delightful, layered tannins and a floral finish. Drink 2025-2030.

The 2022 Chorey-lès-Beaune Le Grand Saussy matured in 30% new barrels 500 liters). It showed a light reduction on the nose but underneath is very pleasant red cherry and strawberry fruit. The palate is medium-bodied with a sharp entry. It is just a bit raw, like I found the previous vintage, and it needs a little more flesh and grip towards the finish.
