Description

This remains the most impressive representation of a terroir usually presumed to produce appealing but essentially quite simple wines. It is elevated by Jean-Pierre’s methods – which would normally be considered too labour-intensive at this level. Nearly all the vines are over 100 years old. It has Chorey’s trademark dark cherry but is also composed and expressive, with a silky essence that caresses. The finish is lifted and impressively long.

10% new wood, about to be bottled. A similar rich crimson purple colour. A savoury and stylish deep red fruit on the nose, with spice behind. A pretty fantastic example of Chorey with life and depth, dark cherry fruit. Excellent tension, I think this will be gorgeous. Long, fine and sensual.

It is expensive for Chorey, although there is a lot of quality for this less-elevated appellation. Dark-fruit notes, fresh and lively palate with a briary character. There is enough concentration, but it still seems pricey.

Pretty and even more floral-infused aromas include those of black cherry, plum, violet and a whiff of rose petal. The rich, fleshy and generously proportioned flavors coat the palate with dry extract while exhibiting reasonably good depth and persistence on the lightly rustic finale.
