2022 Riesling, Smaragd, Wachstum Bodenstein, Prager, Wachau, Austria

This vineyard is Prager’s highest & most western, technically part of the mountain range, and home to over 65 different genotypes of Riesling - which is hugely rare, especially as there are many clones you normally wouldn’t find outside of Germany. At around 460m, it used to be madness to try and plant viable vines at this height, but with the warming climate, it has proven hugely successful, as Prager are able to now produce cool, mineral wines with beautifully clear and bright fruit purity. There are notes of honey blossom and apricot on the nose, and the palate is full of energy, finesse and elegance. Citrus fruits and pebble-stone linger on the finish, mouth-watering and delicate.
