Description

This sublime wine is whole-bunch pressed and aged in old oak barrels. The warm, challenging vintage made production incredibly low, but nonetheless, this is beautifully textured and complex. The nose has white flowers, honeysuckle and spiced pear notes. The palate balances richness and freshness. Flavours of ripe citrus, apricot, hazelnut and a subtle minerality lead to a hint of pastry rounding the finish.

50% Grenache Blanc, 25% Bourboulenc, 25% Clairette. Whole-bunch-pressed. Aged and vinified in old oak barrels.

Tasted blind. A blend of oak and spiced pears on the nose. The palate has good freshness, a wet-wool note and a textured, rich mouthfeel. Some nuttiness and hazelnut to the rich, textured finish. Very gourmand.

Châteauneuf-du-Pape

The largest and most important appellation in the southern Rhône, with more than 3,200 hectares of vineyards and over 80 growers, Châteauneuf-du-Pape produces more wine than the whole of the northern Rhône combined. The gloriously rich red wines, redolent of the heat and herbs of the south, are enhanced by the complexity which comes from blending several of the 14 permitted grape varieties including Grenache, Mourvèdre and Syrah.
