Description
There is a bit more clay in this vineyard, which helped mitigate the low yield from the drought. It’s an early-ripening site and planted with a good proportion of Chardonnay Musqué, which imparts an almost honeysuckle florality, and the palate is full and creamy. There are some vines here from 1962: also Olivier’s year of birth.

Critics reviews
The 2022 Saint-Véran Le Grand Bussière comes from vines close to the village of Prissé, tends to be picked earlier and contains a little Chardonnay Muscaté. It has an attractive bouquet with yellow fruit, nectarine, and lanolin scents. The nose is well-defined and has good vigour. The palate has a slightly honeyed entry with a tiny but tangible Muscat-like note. The 2022 is pretty with a weighty finish. Fine.
Drink 2024 - 2029
A ripe and layered nose is also vaguely exotic, with background nuances of pineapple, lychee, and white peach. The delicious, nicely voluminous, and generously proportioned middle-weight flavours conclude in a lingering citrus-tinged finale that is just a bit firmer.
Drink 2026+
Paler in colour, lemon and lime, but still a touch of muscat on the nose on top of white fruit, with more tension and acidity. Delightful balance and aftertaste, with plenty more waiting in the background.
