Description

Sharing with the Beaune Grèves an imposing sense of structure, this is a fine contrast to the headier, more graceful style of La Vigne au Saint. Built for the long term, there is opulence here, as well as some gritty tannins giving the wine grip.

Picked on 1st September and already at 14.7% This has a big bold purple colour, and stays exceptionally large scale throughout. Very heady in its brambly fruit, with the raft of tannins which are always in the Grèves continuing to do their thing at the back. Punchy enough all round. This vineyard may need that extra degree of ripeness for the fruit to balance the tannins.

The 2022 Corton Grand Cru Greves contains 15% whole bunches this year. This nose has a mixture of redcurrant and cranberry fruit, crushed stone and light rose petal scents. The palate is medium-bodied with filigree tannins, effortlessly balanced - you can barely tell the 14.7% alcohol. It fans out wonderfully on the finish. Velvety and sensual.
