Description

This wine hails from a small, south-facing vineyard just above the hamlet of Gamay. The reds at this address never fail to impress. This wine leads with purity and freshness, with a lovely sapid crunch and just a bit more weight to the palate than would be expected. There’s not a hint of rustic tannins. This is a wine of pure pleasure and not without detail.

The 2022 Saint-Aubin Rouge Derrière La Tour 1er Cru has quite an intense nose with lifted, floral black cherries and bilberry fruit. The medium-bodied palate has a ripe entry with quite high-toned black fruit and a dash of white pepper. The nicely structured finish has just a touch of warmth. Give this a year in bottle.

Dense dark purple, with quite an exciting fruit that has not got too ripe. Dark raspberries, with a bit of flesh behind. When to drink this is a good question, because it seems to be both angular and very ripe at the same time.
