Description
This 2021 Auslese is an absolute rarity. Prager actually stands for dry wines, but if the vintage permits, Toni Bodenstein also produces a residually sweet Auslese—completely clean grapes without botrytis. The grapes come from different plots of the top Achleiten site. Harvested and selected in several passes.
This is such a ravishingly fine, filigree-dancing Auslese with only very restrained sweetness. Subtle honey sweetness already in the nose, underpinned by white flowers. Orange peel and candied lemon, also a touch of ginger. Very crystalline with almost 10 grams of acidity and only about 35 grams of residual sugar - this actually drinks rather feinherb—enormous tension and thrust, just straightforward with fresh fruit interplaying with fine leafy saltiness.
Grandiose length - wow this reverberates for minutes in salty mineral precision, although this Auslese is anything but a concentrated heavyweight. An outstanding rarity from the house Prager!

RS 35 g/l.
Very pale, like the drier wines. Not much nose. Medium sweet but still quite light. One of those wines I'd have a hard time fitting in to my drinking schedule. Too tart to serve with anything really sweet.
