2021 Chambolle-Musigny, Les Combottes, 1er Cru, Domaine Georges Roumier, Burgundy

Description

The 2021 Chambolle-Musigny Les Combottes 1er Cru has a taut and delineated bouquet, not a million miles away from the Chambolle Village but with more fruit intensity. The palate is quite strict at first, loosening with aeration; a fine thread of acidity binds together the vibrant red fruit. Airy and fine-boned towards the finish that displays just a slight attenuation. Enjoy this over the next 15-20 years.

Critics reviews

Allen Meadows 90-93/100

From a .27 ha parcel.

A slightly more deeply pitched nose freely reveals its nose of violet, plum, blueberry and a suggestion of spice. Once again, the middleweight flavours possess an appealing texture as well as good delineation on the dusty, stony and moderately austere finale that offers very fine depth and length. This isn't as structured and could reasonably be approached after only 5-ish years if desired.

Fresh, lively purple, a classical Chambolle nose, lively and elegant raspberry fruit drops. There is impressive purity of fruit and fewer edges at the finish, just a slightly darker brambly nose, 50% whole bunches, and just a little touch of white pepper to finish.

Fleshy and expressive, the 2021 Chambolle-Musigny 1er Cru Les Combottes bursts with aromas of cherries, red berries and plums. Medium to full-bodied, lively and layered, with good depth at the core, this giving, vibrant wine is defined above all by the purity of fruit.
