Aromas of sweet red berries and petals introduce the 2021 Chambolle-Musigny Village, a medium-bodied, pure and melting wine that's pretty and perfumed, privileging finesse over structure.
The 2021 vintage is the smallest crop that Francois Bertheau can remember having produced, amounting to only 24 barrels, but these pretty, pure, fragrant reds will delight admirers of the contemporary Bertheau style. Francois announced that he's now using barrels exclusively derived from Tonnellerie Montgillard, having parted ways with Rousseau, announcing that "sometimes it's time for a change," yet the shift doesn't seem to have disrupted the domaine's distinctive signature in the least, perhaps because new oak has never been a very important part of the equation here.
