2021 Morey-St Denis, Gérard Raphet, Burgundy

The cool and airy nose is earthier still with its array of red and blue pinot fruit where a touch of crushed fennel lurks in the background. There is fine volume to the appealingly textured middleweight flavours thanks mainly to the relatively fine-grained tannins that also shape the moderately firm and more complex finale that is just a bit firmer. This is a good if not truly distinguished Morey villages that should repay 5 to 8 years of keeping.
