The 2021 Gevrey-Chambertin Belair 1er Cru sported quite a heavy reduction on the nose. The palate is much better and indicative, with fine tannins, pretty red berry fruit, and admirable mineralité on the finish. This is much better than the questionable Lavaut this year.

Critics reviews
The Belair was purchased as wine, originally in new wood which has overtoasted the fruit. This can be cleaned up and will be because it is too potent at the moment. A darker fruit but the barrel char stays too prominent.
