Description
Domaine Jean Fournier is one of the leading lights of Marsannay, at the northern end of the Côte de Nuits. The estate is organic-certified and run by the energetic and dynamic Laurent Fournier. This wine comes from the vineyards of Creux Brouillard and Clos Prieur. The nose is quite red fruited with some spice, with a nice floral touch, too, from the whole bunch inclusion. There is lovely acidity on the finish and plenty of elegance, but it has a chalky texture, too. A touch of oak comes through on the finish.

Critics reviews
From Creux Brouillard and the villages portion of Clos Prieur.
This is a relatively ripe 2021 with its nose of plum, black cherry, and hints of the Sauvage. The delicious, vibrant, and detailed middleweight flavours are also relatively refined, thanks to the fine-grained tannins supporting the mildly austere finale that is sufficiently structured to merit up to a decade of keeping.
Drink 2029
This year, Laurent had smaller tanks, which enabled him to vinify the early and late plots separately and blend them when they went to barrel—a fine red-purple. The bouquet is adorable, with a lifted deep raspberry fruit and a cherry or two. Firmer behind with even some blacker notes. Whole bunch spice keeps the whole fresh. Really delicious, as good as I can remember.
