Description

This rising-star vineyard sits at the far end of the renowned Cannubi hill, in the comune of Barolo. Ale hopes to one day add its 0.65-hectare parcel to the family holdings, though ownership politics may prevent them from producing this wine indefinitely. More focused on elegance and heady complexity than the others in the range, it is aged exclusively in botte. The palate moves between wild strawberry, red cherry, and balsamic tones, filled with energy and soul.

The compelling 2021 Paiagallo from Mauro Veglio captivates with its intense fragrance of iris, violet, perfumed berry and camphor. Smooth, full-bodied and utterly delicious, the polished palate is still young but already shows intensity and depth, delivering ripe raspberry, cherry compote, crushed mint and star anise set against firm, refined tannins. It’s well balanced, with good acidity that will propel it forward for years.

Crushed rose petal, red-toned fruit, white pepper, spice and orange peel give the Paiagallo its high-toned personality. This gracious, elegant Barolo is super impressive. Seamless tannins wrap it all together in style.
