Cask sample

Mid crimson. Less open and expressive than the Chambolle but it opens up to pure, dark-red fruit with a delicate hint of spice. More dark-fruited on the palate, really elegant tannin texture with a firmer grip at the very end. Needs a little more time than some.

Drink 2026 - 2034

From Les Chalandins, Quartiers de Nuits, Les Violettes and Basses Maizières.

An overtly spicy nose mixes aromas of red and dark currant, exotic tea, anise and a pretty violet top note. Here too there is fine mid-palate volume to the delicious medium-bodied flavours that possess very good density while delivering excellent length on the balanced finale. This could use better depth, but a few years of bottle aging should prove beneficial.

Drink from 2029 onward

Glowing purple, racy, fresh, more redcurrant fruit, light and tight. Medium concentrated, quite straight laced at first, but even so the hedonistic elements cannot quite lay down and this develops an additional long tense linear finish.
