The 2021 Pommard Les Croix Noires 1er Cru displays more presence and fruit intensity compared to the Les Fremiers: lovely dark cherries intermingling with blackcurrant and dried herbs. The palate is medium-bodied with lithe tannins, fleshy, gentle grip, slightly candied towards the finish, and decent length. Maybe it lacks a bit of typicité, but there is a lot of pleasure to be found here.

There is a pink tinge to the pale purple colour. The bouquet is most elegant with charming floral notes. Super-fine with a vivid fresh red fruit, then more peppery at the back. Intriguing and delicious if not for those who want more muscle.
