Description
The 2021 Chevalier-Montrachet Demoiselles Grand Cru is a step up from the Bâtard-Montrachet in terms of complexity and mineralité. Yellow plum and pressed flower hints emerge and lend more complexity with time. The palate is well-balanced with a crisp line of acidity. This Chevalier gathers momentum towards a detailed, lightly spiced finish with just the right amount of extract. The 2021 has real pedigree.

Critics reviews
A hint of wood combines with spicy, elegant, fresh and ripe white orchard fruit, citrus and a plethora of floral characters. There is impressive power and mid-palate concentration to the extract-rich middleweight plus flavours that coat the palate before terminating in an intense and attractively dry finish that delivers first-rate persistence and complexity. This is also very tightly coiled but extremely well-balanced, and overall, it is a wine that should repay 12 to 15 years of cellaring.
Drink from 2033 onward
A lovely wine in the making, Jadot's 2021 Chevalier-Montrachet Grand Cru Les Demoiselles Domaine des Héritiers Jadot) wafts from the glass with aromas of white currants, sweet orchard fruit, freshly baked bread and flowers. Full-bodied, satiny and incisive, with good concentration, racy acids and a long, saline finish, it's one of the highlights of the range.
Clean mid-yellow. Fine and discreet, a bit of weight, not too austere a limestone character, but this is Demoiselles. More weight shows through on the palate, some greengages, good tension, with some persistence.

This is a beautiful wine, made at a heavy cost – only three casks were produced from a half-hectare. The results, however, are outstanding, with focused lemon peel, white flower, and mineral notes that open up to show a bit of oak spice on the palate. The texture has impressive concentration, and the flavours run deep on the palate. The grapes come from the Jadot-owned parcel at the top of the slope that was promoted from Premier Cru Cailleret. This wine may take a few years to open up but should last at least twenty years.
