A part of the Chaumes vineyard has a red, iron-rich soil, and so is planted with Pinot Noir. The mildew that came at the end of June was almost impossible to control under biodynamics and Jean-Yves lost 60%. But he was able to continue with his SO2 free vinification. Light and very pretty. Not for old bones but perfect for immediate pleasure. Drink 2023-2026

Lost more to mildew than frost here, but any suspect grapes were eliminated. Mid purple, some punchy raspberry fruit. Good weight through the middle with a juicy freshness to finish, and persistent. A good job well done. Strawberries at the back. This was destemmed.
