Description

A warmer but well-sited 1.5 ha of vineyard located to the north of the hill of Corton, facing south-east but protected against the wind from the combe, on a steep slope with the highest vines of the domaine. Although not a Premier Cru, there is a clear uplift from Simon's village blend. It carries the same lemon-fresh notes, but there is more dimension and interest across the palate.

Bottled in August 2022.

Perfumed – this almost smells like a Pinot. Edgy, savoury finish. Not that intense, but then it’s not that expensive. Just a slightly dry, austere finish.

From two lieux-dits - Le Devant des Cloux and Sous les Cloux.

Moderately firm reduction and wood suppress the underlying fruit at present so a thorough aeration is in order if you're going to try a bottle young. Otherwise, there is a lovely sense of underlying tension to the sleek mineral-suffused flavours that are also quite clean and lemony on the bone-dry finale. This too would benefit from a few years of keeping to help add depth but provided that you're going to cellar it for a few years, this is recommended.

A pale lemon colour, with a noticeably more reticent nose. More in white fruit with less of the baked apples, though Simon finds it more exotic. Good acidity to finish and a few appley notes return at the back. More volume in the mouth here.
