2021 Vosne-Romanée, Benjamin Leroux, Burgundy

Description

Compared to other areas in Burgundy, Benjamin Leroux was a happy man in the Côte de Nuits throughout the 2021 vintage. Here, he made an almost-normal crop of 16 barrels from a range of lieux-dits from both the north and south of the commune: Violettes, Maizières Bas, Genaivrières, La Rivière and Jacquines. This has lots of richness on the palate, which is shot through with a compelling tension – a very good result indeed.

16 barrels one more than in 2020). A fine attractive pale ruby colour. About half whole bunch. More depth of fruit than the village Vougeot, with fresh strawberry notes, not especially concentrated to finish, but fine and will be accessible relatively soon.
