Description
Laurent is very pleased with his Es Chezots this year, arguing that it is perhaps the most seriou of his single-vineyard Marsannay wines, with layers of complexity and a grainy feel to the tannins. This may need a little more time, but there is some beautiful strawberry fruit here.

Critics reviews
A lively deep purple. Further up the slope, so a slightly more limestone impression to the nose. Good acidity, some alpine strawberry notes, a little drier at the finish as the stems show through. Pretty but less convincing.

A perfumed, spicy, and equally cool nose reflects notes of black cherry, raspberry, orange peel, and plenty of floral elements. The beautifully detailed flavours have good richness and energy, and the supporting tannins are quite fine-grained. All this is wrapped in a lingering youthfully austere and firm finale. This is also very good and worth your interest.
Drink 2029+
The 2021 Marsannay Es Chezots has a lively, vibrant bouquet with pure Dorset plum and bilberry scents and light iris petal aromas. It is very detailed. The palate is medium-bodied with finely chiselled tannins, quite chalky in texture, perhaps a little compact, but I feel this has something up its sleeve for later. Fournier's spiciest Marsannay. Great potential.
