2021 Savigny-lès-Beaune, Narbantons, 1er Cru, Domaine Camus-Bruchon & Fils, Burgundy

The 2021 Savigny-lès-Beaune Les Nanbartons 1er Cru has a straightforward and perhaps conservative bouquet with neatly placed red fruit, yet it just misses a bit of verve. The palate is better with gentle grip on the entry, quite sappy with a structured finish that, again, suggests a couple of years in bottle will do it no harm at all.

Once again, there is enough wood to notice, though here it is somewhat more subtle on the cool if reserved aromas of mostly dark cherry, floral and a hint of crushed fennel. There is a seductive, even generous, texture to the rich medium-bodied flavours that offer good, if not driving, minerality on the bitter pit fruit-inflected finale that is firm enough to repay up to a decade of keeping.
