Description

Scarzello’s Barolo del Comune di Barolo is mostly comprised of parcels from Terlo and their prized Sarmassa, with a small amount of Paiagallo too. It spends a minimum of 18 months in large oak, but this is often closer to 20. There is a beautiful perfume of clearly defined, red berry fruit, followed by fresh green herbs on the palate. This is a truly beautiful wine, designed to be a representation of Federico’s idea of Barolo.

Barolo. Palish ruby. A little dusty and closed at first, with notes of sweet raspberry. Sappy, minerally raspberry fruit with a layer of fine, long-lasting tannins complementing the fruit. Long and focused. As soon as it is released grab a couple of bottles because it’s pretty exceptional for a Barolo Classico calling it ‘entry level’ wouldn’t do it justice).
