Description

This wonderfully elegant wine displays a magical bouquet of roses, blossoms and sweet red fruits. Once you get past the aromatic pleasure, the palate greets you with an explosion of flavour with layers of ripe red berry fruit, leather tar, raspberries, and spice. There is so much complexity to the fruit here, alongside such elegance and freshness, all leading to an incredibly long finish. This wine is built to age and will undoubtedly reward patience; this will be a stunning wine to enjoy in the future.

The organic Ceretto 2020 Barbaresco reveals a lifted bouquet with bright tones of raspberry and wild strawberry. Those aromas offer a sweet side to the bouquet, but there is also a sour side that comes forth with blood orange or tart pomegranate. The wine ages in French oak for 12 months and is racked into neutral barrel for another year. Fruit comes from both Treiso and Barbaresco.

Barbaresco

The Piedmontese DOCG zone of Barbaresco is responsible for some of Italy’s finest wines. It occupies the same region and uses the same grape (Nebbiolo) as Barolo, but is a third of the size (only 640 hectares versus Barolo’s 1,700 hectares). It is also 50 years younger, having produced wine labelled Barbaresco since 1890. It earned its DOCG in 1980, largely thanks to the efforts of Angelo Gaja.
