Description
Endowed with exceptionally rich and dark Cabernet fruit on the nose with just a touch of blackcurrant leaf, in an almost Margaux fashion, this is a thick set and muscular rendition of this iconic wine. The palate is equally fully formed with a tightly furled hit of complex spice and incense. The tannins are surprisingly refined given the breadth of the wine, but it is the acidity which resonates with me – it provides both grip and structure whilst working with the touch of alcohol on the finish.

Critics reviews
The newest vintage of this classic Languedoc red is a solid effort. The 2020 IGP Saint Guilhem le Desert is 71% Cabernet Sauvignon, with no more than 6% of any other single grape variety present. Naturally, cassis elements lead the way, backed by black cherries and herbal notes, plus a subtle, barely noticeable layer of cedar tying everything together. It's medium to full-bodied, streamlined and smooth in feel, with a long, silky, elegant finish.
