Description

This is from a parcel towards the foot of the slope in En Garnernot. It’s entirely destemmed to avoid the rusticity of Mercurey, with just 10% new oak to preserve purity. Carel’s aim here is to emphasise aromatics and fruit, which he does with aplomb. There’s juicy, crunchy berry fruit and a pleasing, red-berry perfume running throughout.

Sourced from a late ripening site on the limestone plateau. This has taken the oak a little bit though has now been racked to tank. Intense white fruit, light fennel note, but very chiselled. Strong lemon character at the back of the palate.
