Description

This is from the lieux-dits Grands Clos and Clos Chareau. The former is higher up, on limestone, the latter lower down, with more clay. Great Morgeot is a vin de garde; this is no exception. It’s spicy and rich, with plump fruit and delicate floral touches. The texture is serious and a little firm, but this will age beautifully.

Still in barrel. Hugely deep black-purple colour. This wine shows power in all departments thanks to the low yield of 18 hl/ha. Rich plums with a raspberry aftertaste. It is a very powerful, firmly structured, classic Morgeot. Fine fresh finish, a classic from this appellation.

From Clos Charreau and Grand Clos.

An easily perceptible dollop of wood surrounds the aromas of pepper, earth, the Sauvage and ripe poached plum. The wood can also be found on the palate of the medium-bodied and denser if less refined flavours that offer slightly better depth and length. This will need at least a few years of keeping to better integrate the oak and shed some of the firm structure. This is worth checking out.
