Description

Taken from a 0.8-hectare parcel of vines located in the south-facing Côte Rozier amphitheatre where vines benefit from a notably warm microclimate, thanks to the dry stone walls that reflect the day’s heat. This unique location brings power and concentration to the wine. Ripe Cassis and blackberries mingle with spiced and dried fruits, liquorice and a hint of leather.

Jeb Dunnuck 91-93/100

The 2020 Côte Rôtie Rose Pourpre is more masculine and mineral-laced, with some obvious minerality in its smoked black fruits, pepper, and scorched earth aromas and flavors. There's always a touch of rusticity in Gaillard’s wines, but I love the overall balance, it has ripe tannins, and like the Esprit de Blonde, it’s going to keep for 20 years or more. Do your best to hide bottles for at least 3-4 years.
