Description

This is from young vines from cuttings of old Pinot Fin – taken from the Clos des Epeneaux – planted on a steep, south-facing limestone slope. There’s only 10-15% whole-bunch this year and less new oak than in the past (under 10%). This is bright and charming, with the purity of high-quality Pinot. It’s a gorgeous, lifted expression.

Pronounced floral nuances are present in the airy and cool aromas of red cherry, anise and soft earth wisps. The delicious and vibrant middleweight flavours are focused, if not especially rich while exhibiting solid length on the clean, dry, mildly austere finale. To enjoy young.

The 2020 Bourgogne Rouge Les Cras, raised in barrels, has a much more cohesive and purer bouquet than the regular cuvée, even though it has the same level of whole bunch. The palate is well-balanced with fine tannins, good salinity, and quite a precise finish. Fine.
