Description

The 2019 Anjou Blanc, Grandes Rogeries, is Terra Vita Vinum’s first vintage, and what a triumph it is. The vines are planted on a southwest-facing plot rich in volcanic soil. On the nose, this offers lovely notes of peach, apricot, and fresh cream, all very open and giving in their nature. You’ll find a superb texture on the palate, boasting stone fruit with an extra layer of salinity, floral sweetness, and precision. With great length, this is incredibly promising.

If you're a Burgundy drinker, then you might like the 2019 Grandes Rogeries. Partly fermented in Burgundy barrels and partly in Italian amphora, this is a very young wine off volcanic soils providing plentiful tension. Expect delightful toasted hazelnuts and smoky notes alongside citrus and apple. Light in body with plentiful freshness and saltiness on the long finish.

Savennières

Savennières is a tiny white Anjou appellation (comprising Savennières, Savennières-Coulée-de-Serrant, and Savennières-Roche-aux-Moines) revered for its dry, full-bodied Chenin Blanc wines, grown on the ancient schistous/volcanic soils on the southern banks of the Loire. The best are hand-harvested by trie (often with a degree of noble rot), before being pressed and aged in oak barrels.
