Description

From a tiny 0.8-hectare plot in the best vineyard Serralunga has to offer, Figli Luigi Oddero’s Vigna Rionda is the crowning jewel in their range and the epitome of Francesco Versio’s style. They don’t bother putting Riserva on the label, but after 36 months in 30-hectolitre French oak, this spends over two years resting at the winery in bottle until it is ready. It is so quintessentially Serralunga, with invigorating density and concentration on the palate while also somehow being light on its feet, ethereal and fresh. I tasted this with Alberto, the estate’s Export Manager, and we laughed – it’s that good. “I love that guy,” Alberto said of winemaker Francesco.
