Description
This striking example of a Serralunga d’Alba Barolo is a flagship for the whole commune. This is a blend from seven vineyards, including Broglio, Cerretta and Baudana, made using traditional methods: long maceration in cement, and three years ageing in Slovenian botti grande. For the 2019, we return to a vertical profile with high-toned perfume. The palate is crunchy with cranberries, blood orange and dried rose, while Serralunga’s ancient white soils give this wine its tannic personality and depth. The finish is firmly mineral, event taut – and unmistakeably Serralunga.

Critics reviews
A tad closed but with a layer of ripe red fruit underneath. Already hugely compelling and with lots of substance on the palate. Great concentration of rich raspberry fruit with lots of supple acidity and sandpapery long tannins.

If you need to easily describe a Barolo from Serralunga, this 2019 from Giovanni Rosso would be a good example. It's the product of classic winemaking, with long maceration on the skins and big oak-vessel ageing for 30 months. An intense and intoxicating violet and blood orange aroma is enriched by ripe cherry. The palate is tight, with firm tannins, refreshing acidity and good balance. More fruit concentration would be appreciated, but this is delicious sternness from Serralunga.

Very perfumed with violet, orange peel and raspberry aromas and flavors. Medium body. Fine tannins and a fresh finish.

The Giovanni Rosso 2019 Barolo del Comune di Serralunga d’Alba has an enticing nose offering crushed raspberry, camphor and blue flower punctuated by whiffs of spice. It’s radiant, racy, elegantly structured and just loaded with youthful tension and energy, all tempered by great finesse.
