There is plenty of ripe blackberry fruit with a hint of leather and a firm mineral base wrapped in firm, slightly grippy tannins. Two parcels totalling 1.32ha in Aux Charmes contribute fruit for this wine. Fermentation is traditional, with moderate maceration before fermentation and a slight inclusion of whole clusters in 2018. Charmes-Chambertin

Charmes-Chambertin is one of the most famous Grand Cru vineyards in the Côte de Nuits region of Burgundy, and is also the name of the associated AOC of the wines produced from it. Pinot Noir is by far and away the primary grape grown in Charmes, although as with other Burgundy AOC regulations the wines are permitted up to 15 percent Chardonnay, Pinot Blanc or Pinot Gris as auxiliary grapes.
