2018 Saumur Blanc, Bréze, Domaine Guiberteau, Loire

The 2018 Brézé is closer to the terroir of Brézé than its 2019 counterpart, evoking aromas of smoke, white flowers, white fruits, herbs and spices. Full-bodied, rich and supple with a tense, lively and bright mid-palate, it’s perfectly balanced with a long, saline and fruity finish enhanced by delicate gastronomic bitterness. Kudos!

Founded in 1935, this family estate has experienced international expansion thanks to Romain Guiberteau’s efforts. Since adopting organic farming practices in 2003, the estate now covers 20 hectares, predominantly in the commune of Brézé, renowned for its limestone subsoils. The vinification process remains traditional, emphasising control over microbiological factors, while élevages take place in vats and wooden tanks, supplemented by select barrels from the coopers Rousseau and Dussiaux. This estate is highly regarded for producing precise, vibrant, structured and richly mineral wines.
