Description

The fruit here comes from the parcel upslope from that used for the Lafon village Volnay. It’s extraordinary that a few metres uphill can make such a difference, but this is much more powerful and richly perfumed, and still quintessentially Volnay.

30-year-old vines from first-class massale selection. Dominique tells me there are many small stones here despite it being theoretically a clay rich site. Glorious purple. Svelte luxury strawberry and raspberry are engagingly pure, sumptuous, mouth-filling, with very good energy, and more based on acidity than tannins.
