Description
This steep 13-hectare vineyard is immediately in front of the winery. It’s south-east and east-facing, with more clay than usual for Barolo. Veglio has 2.5 hectares here; they selected 35-year-old vines for this wine. The bouquet is fine, fresh and saline; the clay gives the palate a rich solidity. The creamy finish has a soft rasp of tannin.

Critics reviews
La Morra. Mid-ruby with orange tinges. A little dusty and subdued at first but with brooding intensity. Iron, black tea and cherry on the nose with just a suggestion of shoe polish. Still a little closed but voluminous on the palate with a rich layer of fine, polished tannins. It is very long and with lots of juice and a fine polished tannic grip. Generous, without being heavy or sweet.
Drink 2021 - 2026
The 2017 Barolo Arborina is pretty, but also quite delicate and ethereal. Crushed flowers, spice, mint, tobacco and orange peel are nicely lifted throughout. This is an especially light, aromatic style, and while Barolo can be deceptive, my preference would be to drink this on the early side.

This was a release of 6,500 bottles.
From one of the most recognized growing sites in La Morra with 36-year-old vines, the Mauro Veglio 2017 Barolo Arborina opens to a lean appearance with ruby and garnet highlights. Despite the wine's rather timid and subdued first approach, the bouquet is actually quite articulate and expressive, with a fun assembly of cassis, wild cherry and dark plum aromas. The finish is a little thin and dry, owning those shortcomings to the hot and dry vintage, but the wine does fill out nicely over the palate nonetheless.
Drink 2024 - 2038
Really fascinating aromas of ripe fruit with black truffle, ink and ripe-berry character. Full-bodied with beautifully ripened fruit and a soft, round tannin structure. It’s juicy and fruity at the end. Give this time to come together and soften.
