2009 El Dorado, BBR Exclusive Cask, 13-Year-Old, Rum, Guyana (50%)

El Dorado Rum is a special drink for me, as an island boy who loves the finest rum from South America and the Caribbean. This 13-year-old expression is a golden delight that entices with its fruity aroma. I can smell honey, caramel, vanilla, and orange peel in every sip. The texture is smooth and rich, filling my mouth with flavours of dried peach, walnuts, baking spices, and a sweet honeyed sugar that tickles my tongue.

There is more complexity to discover in this rum, as it reveals its secrets slowly. The finish is long and sweet, like a slice of spiced rum cake from the Caribbean. It leaves a warm and spicy aftertaste that makes me want more. I would recommend enjoying this rum neat with a couple of ice cubes on a hot day, or with a splash of your favourite mixer if you feel like indulging. But I would always drink it slowly, to savour every drop.
