Clarendon Distillery, located on the Monymusk Estate, is a name we had yet to encounter but one that every rum drinker will recognise. As one of Jamaica's newest distilleries, they're crafting three distinct styles of rum—some destined for a renowned Captain's spiced rum and others for high-ester rums that will keep us coming back for more.

Tasting note

The rich nose on this rum is honeyed and smoky, with hints of diesel, banana, and vanilla. As rich as you would expect from a Jamaican rum, this oozes class. This is largely due to the restraining fruits controlling the stronger elements and being drawn from the cask in its prime. It takes a while on the palate for the alcohol to dissipate, but the balance of flavours integrates to give a lasting, rich and memorable taste. The finish lingers with the prevalent diesel and banana notes still bound in honey. The final impression leaves me with memories of sandy beaches in the sunshine. This is a very pleasing rum.
