Description

From 65% Grenache, 20 % Mourvdre ,10% Syrah and 5% a variety of the ten other permitted varieties, a typically generous and rich wine, with spice, raspberry, garrigue and black cherry to the fore. Broad on the palate with sweet fruit and tannins already harmiously interwoven.

From the normal tiny yields of this estate on the order of 22 hectoliters per hectare), the 2006 Chateauneuf du Pape from Paul-Vincent has shed its baby fat and now shows a supple, elegant, seamless profile that's hard to resist. Kirsch, licorice, garrigue and sweet spice all emerge from this medium to full-bodied, beautifully balanced 2006. It benefits from a short decant, and while showing plenty of maturity, it will evolve gracefully for at least another decade.

The gloriously rich red wines, redolent of the heat and herbs of the south, are enhanced by the complexity which comes from blending several of the 14 permitted grape varieties including Grenache, Mourvèdre and Syrah.
