The 2002 Brut Vintage Cuvée de Réserve Vinothèque is a rich, heady wine for the dinner table. All of the exotic intensity of the year comes through in the wine's color and overall flavor intensity. At 22 years of age and with more than a dozen years post-disgorgement, the 2002 is peaking today. Apricot, chamomile, dried flowers, tangerine peel and lightly honeyed notes build in a deep, resonant Champagne endowed with notable beauty. I especially like the way this gains freshness with aeration.

60% Pinot Noir and 40% Chardonnay.
A light golden color with dried pineapple and citrus fruits, as well as honey on the nose. It still shows the richness of the warm growing season in champagne. Full-bodied and dense with spicy ginger, ginseng and orange-peel character. Flavorful finish. Energetic, very spicy and intriguing. Goes on for minutes. Fantastic library release. Very limited. Drink now.

In 1668, the monk Dom Pérignon is credited with discovering the traditional method of making sparkling wine - a technique now used worldwide. The region’s cool climate often necessitates a blend of grape varieties: Chardonnay brings fruit and elegance, while Pinot Noir and Pinot Meunier provide body and backbone.
