The 1999 Cuvée Sir Winston Churchill Vinothèque is a powerful, vibrant Champagne that has aged impeccably. Lemon confit, marzipan, dried flowers, mint, spice and chamomile abound. Time in the glass releases gorgeous inner sweetness, while a touch of reduction adds freshness and vibrancy to balance things out. The 1999 has been exceptional in two recent tastings. The style is one more of linear intensity as opposed to the decidedly headier, more exotic 1998.

A rich and broad-shouldered Sir Winston library release. It's rich with cooked apple, light apricot and peach character, as well as pie crust. Just a hint of salted butter. A layered and rich center-palate and a flavorful finish with freshness at the end. This needs food. Drinking beautifully now.
