1988 The Glenrothes, 2nd Edition, Speyside, Single Malt Scotch Whisky (44.1%)

Berry Bros. & Rudd is delighted to announce the release of The Glenrothes Vintage 1988, 2nd Edition. The first edition of the 1988 vintage was released in 2009, when John Ramsay, the Malt Master at the time, selected the casks that were at their best. Some of the whisky, he deemed, needed more time in cask and so, seven years later we are thrilled to be able to release the Single Vintage 1988, Second Edition.

Aged in a mixture of first fill American Sherry hogshead and refill Sherry butts and bottled at 44.1%, this whisky is higher in strength than the First Edition, with greater intensity and a richer character.

The Glenrothes’ current Malt Master, Gordon Motion describes the whisky as “Blackcurrants, nutmeg, fruit cake and mixed peel”. A deliciously full Glenrothes made for the ultimate armchair conversation” adds Ronnie Cox, Brand Heritage Director for The Glenrothes’.

Appearance: Mid-mahogany, clear and bright
Aroma: Nutmeg, fruit cake, nuts and dark honey
Taste: As above  and rich, creamy vanilla
Finish: Full, lingering dried fruits and spice.
